2018 MHI National Congress & Expo A Rousing Success For Manufactured Home Industry
Leave it to the only national trade organization representing the manufactured home industry to organize the industry’s most exciting, comprehensive conference and expo event of the year. The 2018 MHI National Congress & Expo was once again an enlightening experience for all parties involved, and a rousing success for the factory-built housing industry at large.
This year’s Congress & Expo schedule was packed full with the MHI National Communities Council Spring Forum, a day-long seminar on developing with manufactured housing, a keynote address by HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson, and over 4 hours of educational workshops, as well as over 13 hours of quality time spent networking on the expo hall floor over three days.
Communities, Builders, Lenders, and Suppliers Convene & Connect
Before the Congress & Expo began, MHI hosted their annual Trap & Skeet Shoot and Golf Open events nearby on Monday, giving attendees a chance to support MHI’s cause while catching up with industry leaders, colleagues, and friends.
The Congress started strong Tuesday morning with the MHI National Communities Council Spring Forum, a day-long seminar providing informative content and practical solutions specifically designed to address the needs of manufactured home community owners and operators. Others attended the Developing With Manufactured Housing seminar, designed for builders and developers who want to use factory-built housing to save time and money, and provide affordable options to homebuyers.
That evening, the expo hall opened with MHI’s Welcome Reception, and the reunions, conversation, and networking began.
2018 Brought Largest Turnout in Congress & Expo’s History
Attendees were back on the floor Wednesday morning, and one could feel the excitement in the air all day and into the evening as community owners and operators, manufactured home builders, lenders, and suppliers congregated with friends old and new. MHI packed the day full of informative and engaging activities, including a keynote address by HUD Secretary Dr. Ben Carson, as well as educational workshops on manufactured home installation, industry law, tiny homes, grassroots advocacy, brand management, community infrastructure, disaster preparedness, and Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac.
MHI’s National Awards Luncheon was especially lively, once again recognizing the country’s very best manufactured home retailers, communities, lenders, suppliers, and homebuilders. Big winners in 2018 included YES! Communities, 21st Mortgage Corporation, Adventure Homes, Clayton Homes, and Champion Homes, who all took home multiple awards.
After the ceremony, eager attendees poured back into the expo hall for five hours of quality time spent exploring, engaging, and connecting. As industry partners conversed, shook hands, and exchanged information in a spirited and stimulating environment, one felt a powerful sense of opportunity and excitement throughout the massive hall.
