Production of Manufactured Homes Continues Double-Digit Growth Into 2017

American production of manufactured homes continues its upward trajectory in 2017, demonstrating vigorous growth with double-digit increases in both January and February.

According to official statistics reported by the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is reporting U.S. manufactured home production increased approximately 26% on a year-over-year basis.

Manufactured Home Production Increases Dramatically In 2017

Just-released statistics indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 7,132 homes in February, representing a 19.3% increase over the 6,129 homes produced during February 2016. The cumulative industry production for January and February 2017 now totals 15,139 homes—a 26.2% increase over the 11,991 homes produced over the same period in 2016.

Demonstrating serious strength, these production numbers for the first two months of 2017 clearly indicate the industry is already on pace to produce in excess of 100,000 HUD Code homes in 2017. Eclipsing the 81,000 manufactured homes produced and shipped in 2016, 2017 will represent the 5th consecutive year of exponential growth in manufactured housing production(Note: The statistics do not include residential code modular homes, an integral and thriving component of factory-built home production).
